Sixth seeded German Alexander Zverev will face unseeded Alejandro Davidovich Fokina of Spain in the Quarter-Finals of the 2021 French Open. The match is scheduled to take place on Tuesday June 8th, 2021 at approximately 11:00am EST.

This is set to be a very exciting clash between the in-form Alexander Zverev and the flashy Spanish youngster Alejandro Davidovich Fokina. Both men have had different paths to reach this stage but have been very impressive nonetheless. Can pre-tournament favorite Zverev get the win here to advance to the Semi-Finals here in Paris? Or can the talented Spaniard cause the massive upset to reach the Semis at a major for the first time?

Alexander Zverev is ranked #6 in the world and is the sixth seed here at Roland Garros. He announced himself as one of the favorites for the title by having a very consistent clay court season, highlighted by his win in Madrid. After struggling in his opening round match here in Paris, he has been dominant since, including a 6-4, 6-1, 6-1 demolition of Kei Nishikori which was an opponent that many thought would be troublesome. In this sort of form there are not many players that are capable of stopping him, and he enters this match against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina as the huge favorite to advance here at the French Open.

Alejandro Davidovich Fokina is the world #46, and is unseeded here at the French Open. The Spaniard is considered one of the brightest young talents on the ATP Tour, and he has backed up that claim with an extremely solid clay court season so far, including this run to the Quarters, his first such appearance at a Major. While he has been very impressive throughout, he will certainly be fatigued here after two consecutive five set matches and that may be a factor here. Not being at 100% is certainly a recipe for disaster against one of the very best clay court players in the world in Alexander Zverev, and he enters as the heavy underdog.

This match should only go one way, and that is a comprehensive win for Alexander Zverev. The German has been outstanding this season and while Davidovich Fokina is an outstanding player it is unlikely that he has the tools to handle the German here. I expect a lot of exciting tennis, but ultimately Zverev will win in straight sets and advance to the Semi-Finals here at Roland Garros
