Stuttgart Open: Felix Auger-Aliassime vs. Marin Cilic 6/13/21 Tennis Prediction

Felix Auger-Aliassime (3) meets Marin Cilic in the final of the 2021 Stuttgart Open on Sunday, June 13th 2021.

Will Marin Cilic be able to get a big win under his belt as he lifts his 19^th title and show us how good he is on grass, or will FAA finally get over the line as he has lost all of the 7 finals he has ever been in on the ATP Tour, with him being labelled as a choke artist at the end of tournaments?

Marin Cilic came through the first set against Jurij Rodionov in the semi finals winning 6-3, and early in the second set Jurij had to retire due to an injury issue. Marin is finding his form since his return to the tour this year and he will want to show everyone that he used to be one of the best grass court players as he would consistently win titles, make his way to the Final of Wimbledon and beat big names. However, he needs to beat another good grass court player in FAA here who seems to be extremely determined to win his first title, especially under the mentorship of Toni Nadal.

FAA beat a hard hitting Sam Querrey in the semi finals, beating the American in 2 sets 6-4/7-5. FAA is a good player on grass as his flat shots go through the court with incredible speed. FAA has always lost in a final and he has been in 7 in his young career. FAA has the tennis to win titles and he could’ve been so much bigger than he actually is if he had won any of those finals, but he always failed. Now, with Toni Nadal as his coach, I believe he will be better suited mentally to handle the pressure and get himself over the line to make a statement.

This is going to be the 3^rd meeting between both players, with Marin having never lost to FAA. Although this is the case, I still see FAA winning here. Marin has not had as tough of a fight compared to FAA to the Final, and FAA seems to be more dominant in rallies. Marin relies heavily on his serve and forehand like FAA, but his movement is not as good as FAAs anymore. FAA will move him around the court a lot and get himself into long rallies which will make Marin uncomfortable. FAA will finally lift his first title.
