Felix Auger-Aliassime of Canada will face Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz in the First Round of the 2021 Halle Open in Germany. The match is scheduled to be played on Tuesday June 15th, 2021 at a time yet to be determined.

A highly exciting match is expected as young talents Felix Auger-Aliassime and Hubert Hurkacz do battle in the First Round of the 2021 Halle Open. Both players have been in solid form over the past few seasons and have seen their rankings climb. Who will get the win here and advance to the Second Round in Halle?

Felix Auger-Aliassime is ranked #20 in the ATP rankings and is unseeded here at the 2021 Halle Open. The Canadian youngster has been on the tour for what seems like ages, and it is shocking to think that he is still only 20 years of age. He has been producing some very consistent results over the past few years and will have his eyes firmly set on breaking into the top 10 for he first time. While he has been in solid form, his mental state may not be at 100% as he recently lost his 8th career ATP Final in a row to Marin Cilic in Stuttgart. He has a booming serve and huge groundstrokes that will be very effective on this type of surface, though his unforced error count is likely to be very high as that is something that he often struggles with on the quicker surfaces.

Hubert Hurkacz is the Polish #1 and is ranked one spot behind his opponent Felix Auger-Aliassime at #21 in the ATP charts. He has had a solid season so far, highlighted by winning his maiden Masters-1000 title in Miami which allowed him to break into the top 20 for the first time. After a relatively poor clay court season he will be hoping to get his season back on track here at the 2021 Halle Open. He has actually lost a whopping five matches in a row including a First Round exit at the hands of Dominic Stricker in Stuttgart, and will be desperate to find some form here before Wimbledon. Like his opponent he has a huge serve and groundstrokes, so there will likely be a lot of short points here in this encounter.

This is a tough match to predict as both players have similar attacking games and are next to each other in the rankings. However, I am going with the one that is currently in form, and that is Felix Auger-Aliassime. The young Canadian is fresh off a Finals run in Stuttgart, and his confidence will be much higher than the struggling Hurkacz. I expect a high quality match with lots of short points and winners, but I think that Auger-Aliassime will eventually come out on top here at the 2021 Halle Open, advancing to the Second Round.
