Unseeded pair Adrian Mannarino and Sam Querrey will face off in the Semi-Finals of the 2021 Mallorca Open. The match is scheduled to be played on Friday June 25th, 2021 at approximately 12:00pm EST.

Neither Adrian Mannarino nor Sam Querrey would have been expected to reach this stage of the 2021 Mallorca Open, but both have been playing extremely well here in Spain and are deserving Semi-Finalists. Which one will take it one step further to reach their first Final of 2021?

Adrian Mananrino is currently ranked #42 in the ATP rankings and is unseeded here in Mallorca. The Frenchman has built a reputation of being a very solid and aggressive baseline player, but has been having a poor season thus far. he will be extremely happy to have reached the Semis, and will be hoping to use all of his experience to defeat the big-serving American Sam Querrey. Mannarino did have some luck earlier in the tournament when Dominic Thiem retired after leading in the first set due to injury, and has certainly made the most of his good fortune, and now has a chance to reach the Final here in Mallorca.

Sam Querrey is ranked #60 in the world, and is finally getting back to his best after a rough couple of years. A former Wimbledon Semi-Finalist, the American reached the Semis in Stuttgart and backed it up by repeating the feat here in Mallorca, and has been playing extremely well. After a slow start to this event with a tough three set win over Roberto Carballes Baena, he received some luck when Halle champion Ugo Humbert withdrew, giving him a spot in the Quarter-Finals. Like his opponent Adrian Mannarino, he took advantage of his opportunity by defeating the always-dangerous Roberto Bautista Agut to reach this stage. While he is lower ranked, he has the much better grass court pedigree and will expect to win this one.

I am going to go against the grain here and pick Adrian Mannarino to win this match. Many will be leaning with Querrey as he has had a lot of success on grass throughout his career. However, Mannarino is very solid, and is a good enough returner to nullify the American’s serve a bit. I do think that it will go three sets, but I’m backing the Frenchman to come good when it matters most, advancing to his first ATP Final of the year here at the 2021 Mallorca Open.
