Second seeded Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka will face eighth seed Karolina Pliskova of the Czech Republic in the Semi-Finals of the 2021 Wimbledon Championships. The match is scheduled to be played on Thursday July 8th, 2021 at a time yet to be determined.

A blockbuster match is expected as two of the biggest hitters on the WTA Tour collide. Aryna Sabalenka will face Karolina Pliskova for a spot in the Final of the 2021 Wimbledon Championships. Both women have been outstanding so far here at the All-England Club, and are seemingly back to their aggressive best. Can Sabalenka win and advance to her maiden Grand Slam Final? Or can Karolina Pliskova reach her second?

Aryna Sabalenka is ranked #4 on the WTA Tour and is seeded second here at the 2021 Wimbledon Championships. She has been one of the most consistent performers on the WTA Tour over the past few seasons, but this is the first time that she has really translated that into success at the Majors. She has been at her dominant best throughout these championships, starting slowly and now rounding into form. She crushed Ons Jabeur in straight sets in the Quarter-Final, a match that many expected to be very close. When she is striking the ball well and fully focused she is incredibly hard to beat and she enters her first Grand Slam Semi-Final as the slight favorite over Karolina Pliskova.

Karolina Pliskova is ranked #13 in the world and is the eighth seed here at the 2021 Wimbledon Championships. The Czech star is a former world number one, but has seen her ranking slide over the past couple years with a string of disappointing results. She is seemingly back to her best here at the 2021 Wimbledon Championships, and is yet to drop a set here. She has had a relatively straightforward path to this stage however, and Aryna Sabalenka will be her first major test. While she has a lot of experience, she may find it hard to cope with her opponent’s power and will have to rely on her movement and consistency here.

This will be the third time that the two players have met on the WTA Tour, with the Belarusian winning on both occasions. However, both matches have been incredibly tense battles, decided in three sets. I expect this to be no different here, as they are extremely evenly matched and are in similar form. While they have both been dominant, Karolina Pliskova has been more impressive as she has won all her matches in straight sets, plus she has a major edge in experience. However, I am going to give a slight edge to Aryna Sabalenka here. She has been much more consistent than her opponent over the past two years, and I am not fully convinced that Pliskova can be trusted. It almost certainly will be three sets, but Aryna Sabalenka will win here, advancing to her first Grand Slam Final here at Wimbledon.
