Wimbledon: Matteo Berrettini vs. Hubert Hurkacz 7/9/21 Tennis Prediction

Will Hubert Hurkacz come out ready to give it his all after having already gotten the win of his life under his belt by beating his idol in the quarters, or will Matteo Berrettini get himself into the final and give himself a chance at his maiden Grand Slam title on a surface which suits him?

Hubert Hurkacz has proved everyone wrong, getting the win of his life as he described it over his idol, Roger Federer, in straight sets 6-3/7-6/6-0. This was the only time Roger has ever lost this bad at Wimbledon and it has been his only 6-0 set lost since the 2008 Roland Garros Final against Rafael Nadal. Hubert was outstanding in that match, but Roger was also not at his best, seemed sluggish on his forehand, and his footwork was off throughout the entire match. Hubert will know that he should not expect to win now that hes beaten Roger, but he should rather continue to work hard.

Matteo Berrettini fought through a good match against Felix Auger-Aliassime, beating his friend, in 4 sets 6-3/5-7/7-5/6-3. Matteo was able to stay in the match in the very tight moments even if Felix was playing better in the second and third set, and this allowed him to keep close when Felix’s level finally dropped. Matteo Berrettini will know that he will have a very good chance at the title if he comes through this semifinal, but he will need to ensure he does not get too ahead of himself and focuses on playing his best instead.

This is going to be the 2^nd meeting between both players, with Hubert Hurkacz having won their only prior encounter. Both of them have improved drastically since they last met and I am sure they will come out here confident in their game. However, I think that Matteo will have the edge here. Hubert has been able to get some huge wins in his last 2 matches, but those have been the toughest opponents he’s met. Matteo, on the other hand, has been in dominant form over the last 3 weeks consistently beating some of the best players in the world. Matteo is yet to lose on grass this year and I don’t see him losing this semi final.
