Alexander Bublik vs Jason Jung
July 15, 2021 1:00 pm EDT

Top seed Alexander Bublik of Kazakhstan will face Jason Jung in the Quarter-Finals of the 2021 Hall of Fame Championships. The match is scheduled to take place Thursday July 15th, 2021 at approximately 1pm EST.

Alexander Bublik is the top seed here at the 2021 Hall of Fame Championships and is the main contender for the title in Newport. Can Jason Jung continue his surprising run by causing yet another upset over a seeded player? Or will Bublik advance easily as expected to reach the Semi-Finals? Both men have been playing outstanding tennis so far this week, but only one can move on. Who will it be?

Alexander Bublik is currently ranked 37 in the world and is the top seed here at the Hall of Fame Championships. The Kazakh star has really matured as a player over the past few seasons and is beginning to put together some very consistent performances on the ATP Tour. He has all the tools to be a top player, with a big serve, powerful groundstrokes and tons of variety. He has begun his week strongly here in Newport, with a tough three set win over the big-serving Ivo Karlovic. While the win is not that impressive on paper due to the big gap in their rankings, Karlovic still possesses one of the biggest serves in the world which is a daunting task to return on this quick surface. Bublik enters this match against the unseeded Jason Jung as the massive favorite, and is not expected to have many issues here.

Jason Jung is ranked #163 on the ATP Tour and is unseeded here at the 2021 Hall of Fame Championships. He has had a surprising but very impressive run to the Quarter-Finals so far, and will be seeking to reach his first ATP Semi-Final. A very solid baseliner, he has been using his elite movement to great effect here, and has been serving surprisingly well. He had a very tough three set win over Brayden Schnur that went down to a third set tiebreaker, and followed it up with a very impressive 6-2, 6-2 win over fifth seeded Tennys Sandgren. While he enters this match against Alexander Bublik as the big underdog, he will be full of confidence after the week he’s had, and will be backing himself to advance.

This will be the first time that the two have faced each other, and I am expecting a comfortable win for the top seed. He has a reputation of being unpredictable and losing matches that he should not, but he has really impressed lately with his newfound maturity and I expect him to dominate this match. He simply has too much quality for Jason Jung here and should advance to the Semi-Finals here at the Hall of Fame Open with relative ease.
