Second seeded Cristian Garin of Chile will face unseeded Argentine Federico Coria in the Quarter-Finals of the 2021 Nordea Open. The match is scheduled to be played on Friday July 16th, 2021 at 6:20am EST.

Cristian Garin has established himself as one of the best clay court players in world tennis, and is one of the main contenders for the title here at the Nordea Open. The Chilean has been dominant at the ATP250 and 500 level tournaments over the past few years and will be aiming to add a second title to his collection this season. Federico Coria has also been having a solid year in 2021 but is the massive underdog here. Can he cause the stunning upset and advance to his first ATP Semi-Final of the year?

Cristian Garin is the world number 18 and is the second seed here at the 2021 Nordea Open. As mentioned before, he has a reputation as being one of the finest clay court specialists in the world, and anything less than a title here in Bastad will be considered a disappointment. His huge groundstrokes and elite movement really make him a force on this surface, and he has been serving much better lately as well. His biggest weakness used to be his focus, but that has improved tremendously as well. He is the massive favorite here against Federico Coria, and has looked in great form so far here in Sweden as evidenced by his straight sets win over Pedro Martinez in the Round of 16, and he will be very confident of a similar result here.

Federico Coria is ranked #77 and is unseeded here at the Nordea Open. While he is never flashy, he has been having a very consistent season in 2021, and has seen his ranking slowly creep up into the top 80. He has a huge win over former French Open Semi-Finalist Marco Cecchinato in the Round of 16, and really has been looking good here in Bastad. He used his serve and forehand to great effect, and will be hoping for more of the same against current opponent Cristian Garin. However, this is a whole new level and it would be a shock if there was any result other than a straight-sets loss.

Despite Federico Coria’s strong play, the Argentine doesn’t stand much of a chance here. Cristian Garin is simply too good for him to handle, and is better in every single aspect of the game. It won’t be a whitewash, but I expect the Chilean to cruise to victory here, and he should advance to the Semi-Finals here at the 2021 Nordea Open without many issues.
