Top seeded Alexander Bublik of Kazakhstan will face eighth seeded South African Kevin Anderson in the Semi-Finals of the 2021 Hall of Fame Open in Newport. The match is scheduled to be played on Saturday July 17th, 2021 at a time yet to be determined.

A blockbuster match is expected as number one seed Alexander Bublik will face former top 5 player Kevin Anderson for a spot in Sunday’s Final here in Newport. The veteran South African is undergoing a long and frustrating return to the tour after a long struggle with injuries, and will be delighted to have reached his first Semi-Final in years. Alexander Bublik is one of the most unpredictable players on the ATP Tour, so the veteran will be liking his chances here. Can he pull off the upset and do the unthinkable, which is reaching the Final here at the 2021 Hall of Fame Open?

Alexander Bublik is currently ranked #37 on the ATP Tour and is the top seed here in Newport. The Kazakh has a reputation of being extremely talented yet unpredictable, but he has greatly matured over the past two seasons. Now a genuine threat at bigger events, he will be seeking to win his first ever grass court event, and has been impressive so far here at the 2021 Hall of Fame Championships. After a tough three set win over Ivo Karlovic in the First Round, he put in a much more assured performance against Jason Jung, completely controlling the tempo of the match. He strength is in his variety, as he has all the shots in the book. While he is the favorite here, he will have to be his best against the veteran Kevin Anderson, who is an exceptional grass-court player. If he is fully fit here, we could truly be in for a battle.

Kevin Anderson is a former top five player, but has seen his ranking tumble as he has struggled with loss of forms and serious injuries over the last few years. The South African has had a rough re-introduction to the Tour, with a string of poor performances as he stubbornly worked his way back into form. His sacrifices have paid off, and he in within a win of an ATP Final. His serve is still elite, and he is one of the most intelligent players out there. Despite him being the underdog, his vast experience will be valuable here, and the veteran should not be discounted here. He recovered well to win from a set down over Jack Sock in the Quarter-Finals, and he will be full of confidence here.

This will be the first time that the two players will be facing each other on the ATP Tour, and it is sure to be a huge battle. There is a big contrast in their game styles, and any time that Alexander Bublik steps on a court there is sure to be excitement. After considering everything, I am going with Alexander Bublik. He is still a bit unpredictable and hard to trust, but he has improved so much lately, and Kevin Anderson is not the player he once was. I expect Anderson’s serve to keep this competitive and he could possible even sneak a set, but i’m backing Alexander Bublik to get the tight win here, advancing to the Final here at the 2021 Hall of Fame Open.
