Taylor Fritz vs John Isner
July 31, 2021 7:00 pm EDT

Fifth seeded Taylor Fritz of the United States will face his countryman John Isner in the Semi-Finals of the Atlanta Open. The match is scheduled to be played on Saturday July 31st, 2021 at 7:00pm EST.

An exciting match is expected between Americans John Isner and Taylor Fritz. Both men have fairly similar games, as they both rely heavily on their huge serves. Both men have been in good form this week here at the 2021 Atlanta Open and will be very eager to win their first titles of 2021 at home. Who will get the win here and advance to Sunday’s Final?

Taylor Fritz is currently ranked 45 in the world rankings and is the fifth seed here at the Atlanta Open. The young American star has been having a solid season but is yet to win a title, having already reached four semis. He has a good chance to win here as he is the highest seeded player left in the draw but will first have to overcome veteran American John Isner. Both men are extremely evenly match and regardless of the outcome, it will be a very close encounter. Fritz was pushed to the limit in the Semis by Reilly Opelka, finally coming through in a third set tiebreaker. If fatigue is not an issue he will be hard to beat.

John Isner is the sixth seed here at the 2021 Atlanta Open, and has been having a disappointing season by his high standards. He will be very happy to have reached the Semis here and would love nothing more than to lift his sixth Atlanta Open title. Like his opponent Taylor Fritz he had a tough three setter in the Quarter-Finals, overcoming Christopher O’Connell to reach the Semis. His experience will be highly important here, and he will be relying on that and his serve to get the job done here against Fritz. This match should be very even so it will likely come down to who holds their nerve on the day.

This is the fifth time that the two men will be meeting each on the ATP Tour, winning 2 matches each. All four times have been extremely close and it likely will be close again here in Atlanta. It can go either way and both men have a strong case for winning here, but I am going with the young star Taylor Fritz. He has a more well-rounded game than his opponent John Isner, and it seem like Isner is struggling with fitness a bit after the recent tough matches. I won’t discount the veteran and he has a good chance of winning, but we are leaning Taylor Fritz to win here, advancing to the Final here at the Atlanta. Three sets in the match is a very good shout.
