BNP Paribas Open: Alexander Zverev vs. Taylor Fritz 10/15/21 Tennis Prediction

Third seed, Alexander Zverev, meets the local American, Taylor Fritz, in the quarter finals here at the BNP Paribas Open on Friday, October 15th, 2021.

Will Taylor Fritz give the American crowd something to cheer about as he aims to make it further as the only American left in the draw, or will Alexander Zverev cruised through yet another match here in Indian Wells?

Taylor Fritz put on an amazing performance in the fourth round, beating the in form and favourite, Jannik Sinner, in 2 sets 6-4/6-3. Taylor is a great player on his day, but he has outshone what we usually expect from him, not losing a set all tournament and beating big names and up and coming names like Brandon Nakashima, Matteo Berrettini, and now Jannik Sinner. Fritz is definitely gaining confidence and the crowd are loving it, but he now meets a much tougher opponent in Alexander Zverev here.

Alexander Zverev cruised through his match against Gael Monfils, beating the Frenchman in 2 easy sets 6-1/6-3 to get himself into this quarter final. Alexander has been in cruise control for basically all week, only losing 1 set along the way and beating big names. Zverev is in great form and he knows that if he is able to minimize his time on court in this match to ensure he is ready to battle in the semi finals, he will have a strong chance to win and win the title as this side of the draw is going to most likely determine who will win in Indian Wells.

Both players have met 4 times before, with their matches always being entertaining. Alexander won 3 of their 4 prior encounters, and they met earlier this year at Wimbledon. Since then, Zverev has improved even more and he has really gone basically undefeated except for a couple losses since then. Taylor is also playing well, but he is nowhere near the level of Zverev at the moment, and I expect for Zverev’s huge serve and amazing return game to get him into the semi finals.
