Will Lorenzo Musetti find his form again after having had a terrible second half of the 2021 season, or will Alex de Minaur continue to build on the strong form he showed a few weeks ago at the ATP Cup?

Lorenzo Musetti will be looking to find his form again after he has been playing extremely sub par over the last 6 months. Since he lost to Novak Djokovic at the French Open last year, Musetti’s form has dipped drastically and he started 2022 in the same manner, losing to Taro Daniel at the Adelaide Open a couple weeks ago in the opening round. Lorenzo is a great talent and when he is in form he can achieve great wins. However, this seems like its been a very long slump for him, so I expect him to struggle coming out of the gates.

Alex de Minaur will be very proud of the manner in which he started his 2022 season, winning 2 out of 3 matches at the ATP Cup, beating Matteo Berrettini and Ugo Humbert. Alex is a great player who is amazing off of the return. Alex has a lot of energy, which can catch his opponents off guard, especially at the start of matches. The Aussie will want to give the crowd something to cheer about as he is their No.1 player currently.

This is going to be the first meeting between both players, with a battle of the youngsters on our hands here. Although Lorenzo was considered to have more potential in the first few months of last year, he has completely dropped in form since then. Alex, on the other hand, seems ready to give it his all in these tournaments in his home country, so I expect a lot from him. Lorenzo is a confidence player, and he does not have much at the moment. Alex’s return of serve will definitely hurt him and get him knocked out of yet another tournament in the first round.
