Frances Tiafoe and Stan Wawrinka will meet in the Round of 32 at the Queen’s Club Championships on June 14th, 2022.

A very entertaining match is expected at the Queen’s Club Championships as crowd favorites Frances Tiafoe and Stan Wawrinka meet in the Round of 32. Tiafoe is ranked #27 in the world and is one of the most popular players in the world due to his exciting style of play. The American has shown flashes of his grass court ability over the past few years, notably winning the title in Nottingham last year but doesn’t have a great record at Wimbledon. After reaching the Final in Estoril in May he has won only one match and will be very eager to break that streak here at Queen’s. If he serves well he should be considered the favorite here despite his recent record, with his opponent Stan Wawrinka also struggling.

Stan Wawrinka is one of the most beloved players on the tour but his career sadly is winding down. Now ranked outside the top 200 and finding himself always in injury trouble he will be hoping to close out his career in style. Like his opponent Frances Tiafoe, grass is his least favorite surface and one that he has never had much success on, so it will be interesting to see how he fares in his first match for the year on the surface. While he has slowed down quite a bit recently he still packs a fair bit of firepower so if he is hitting his stride and is fully fit then he could be a handful here.

This is quite an interesting match between two very capable players, neither of whom love this surface. Both have been struggling this year, and Wawrinka especially is carrying some serious question marks due to his various injuries. With that considered it is hard to look past Frances Tiafoe, despite his indifferent form. Health is the key factor here, and he is younger and fitter than his seasoned opponent. If the Swiss star is healthy it will be no walkover, but I expect Tiafoe to get the win here and move on to the Round of 16.
