Hubert Hurkacz is the second seed here at the Moselle Open and is ranked 10^th on the ATP Tour. The Polish star is the defending champion here in Metz and is just two matches away from defending his title. He entered this event in poor form, losing in the First Round in Cincinnati and the Second at the US Open but has looked great here so far. After receiving a bye in the First Round he cruised past Dominic Thiem and Arthur Rinderknech without dropping a set, and is the firm favorite here against Lorenzo Sonego. With his huge serve and forehand he should be able to dictate the match from the baseline and once he’s not too wasteful should be comfortable here.

Lorenzo Sonego is ranked 65^th in the world and is the 18^th seed here at the Moselle Open. The Italian has struggled for the most part in 2022 but is putting all of that behind him with some strong performances this week. Like his opponent Hubert Hurkacz he is yet to drop a set, defeating Aslan Karatsev, Gilles Simon and Sebastian Korda en route to the Semis. He has been serving extremely well, and this will be especially important here against Hurkacz who is likely to hold serve easily. Sonego is capable of winning here if things go his way but he has a mountain to climb.

This will be an entertaining match between two very aggressive baseline payers. They both have been on point this week and will have chances to win here, but we have to side with Hubert Hurkacz here. He has bigger weapons and more upside, and clearly is very comfortable here in Metz given that he won last year. Lorenzo Sonego is known to cause upsets from time to time and if this was on another surface I would give him more of a shot, but I don’t see him winning here. Back Hurkacz to win and move into the Final for the second consecutive year.
