Taylor Fritz is the fourth seed here at the Indian Wells Masters and is ranked 5th in the world. The American is the defending champion here and will be eager to defend his title. He has had a strong season so far with only four losses compared to seventeen wins. His huge serve and powerful groundstrokes are perfectly suited for these courts and he showed that in his straight sets win over Marton Fucsovics. He is the slight favorite here against Jannik Sinner but will have his work cut out here against the Italian.

Jannik Sinner is the 11th seed here and is ranked 13th in the world. The Italian has struggled at times this season, dropping out of the top 10 but remains an elite player. He is yet to drop a set here at the Indian Wells Masters, crushing Stan Wawrinka in the Round of 16 6-1, 6-4. Like Taylor Fritz, his game is built for this surface and he is able to match anyone on the tour from the baseline. The Italian is the slight underdog here and the crowd will be against him, but he is more than capable of winning this one.

This will be a very close match and I expect it to go the distance. Both men have big, baseline games and there will be tons of thrilling rallies and winners in this one. The crowd will be heavily for the hometown hero Taylor Fritz, but I am going against the grain here and picking Sinner to win this one. He has looked just a bit more solid this week and unless Fritz serves exceptionally well (which is possible) I think the Italian will pip this one. Bet on each player winning a set, but Sinner is the man to reach the Semis.
