Alexander Bublik vs Marton Fucsovics 6/27/22 Wimbledon Tennis Picks, Predictions, Odds

Alexander Bublik will meet Marton Fucsovics in the First Round of the 2022 Wimbledon Championships. The match is scheduled to be played on Monday June 27th, 2022.

Alexander Bublik is unseeded here at Wimbledon and is currently ranked #39 on the ATP Tour. The Kazakh star is one of the most talented players on the tour but is also one of the most unpredictable. He enters this event in mixed form, boasting a 4-3 record on the surface over the past few weeks, losing in the Second Round of both Stuttgart and Queen’s, and the Quarter-Finals in Eastbourne. Bublik played extremely well in Eastbourne, and was unlucky to lose to eventual champion Taylor Fritz. His big serve and all-around game is well suited to this quicker surface but it depends on his focus on the day. He has always been capable of defeating the top players, but this draw is a difficult one, facing the veteran Hungarian Marton Fucsovics.

Like his opponent Alexander Bublik, Marton Fucsovics is unseeded here at Wimbledon. Last year’s Quarter-Finalist is currently ranked 57th in the world, a disappointing ranking for someone of his quality. He is having a miserable season so far with a losing record, and has struggled with injuries in recent weeks, withdrawing from both Stuttgart and Halle. Despite his struggles, he is a very capable grass-court player and has all of the tools to do well here. If he is confident and healthy, his powerful serve and groundstrokes make for an effective one-two punch and he will be backing himself to upset the favorite Bublik here.

This match is likely to be a very close one, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it went the distance. Both men struggle with consistency at times, but there is no denying their talent and quality. This is certainly one of the best matchups of the First Round, and in terms of betting it may be best to stay away. The most likely outcome is the over in games played, and for each men to win a set. If I had to pick a winner it would be Bublik just because he is the fitter of the two at the moment, and seems to be in better form. Bublik in four or five sets.
