Andrey Rublev will meet Alexander Zverev in the Quarter-Finals of the 2023 Swedish Open. The match will be played on Friday July 21st, 2023.
Andrey Rublev is the second seed here at the 2023 Swedish Open and is ranked 7th on the ATP Tour. The Russian has been one of the more consistent performers on the ATP Tour, especially on clay and is one of the main favorites to win the title this year. He defeated Pavel Kotov in his first match, in the Round of 16 6-3, 7-6. While he broke his opponent three times, he was broken twice himself and struggled to win second serve points (43%). This will have to improve if he is to overcome the experienced Alexander Zverev.
Alexander Zverev is ranked 19th in the world and is the 5th seed here at the 2023 Swedish Open. The German is finaly hitting his stride after his injury and will be a stern test for Andrey Rublev. After surprisingly struggling to defeat Alex Molcan in the First Round he crushed Thiago Monteiro in the Round of 16, allowing his opponent a single game. His form has been patchy, but when he is playing well he is one of the best players in the world on this surface and will certainly be a handful.
This should be a very entertaining match between two high quality players. Both men are capable of winning this, but the smart money is on Andrey Rublev. He is by far the more trustworthy player at the moment, and while Alexander Zverev does have the upside to win here, he is not quite back to his best. It’ll be a close one, but give me the Russian to win in three sets here, moving on to the Semi-Finals of the 2023 Swedish Open.
