Andy Murray vs James Duckworth 6/27/22 Wimbledon Tennis Picks, Predictions, Odds

Andy Murray will meet James Duckworth in the First Round of the 2022 Wimbledon Championships. The match will be played on Monday June 27th, 2022.

Andy Murray is a former Wimbledon Champion and world number one. Unfortunately, he suffered from major injuries and at one point it seemed that he would be unable to return. He was able to beat the odds and it is great to see him competing at a very high level again. While Murray may not be a serious contender for the title he is someone that the top players will be desperate to avoid, as he is still capable of some very dangerous tennis. He enters Wimbledon in stellar grass-court form, having reached the Semi-Finals at the Surbiton trophy and the Final in Stuttgart, and will be nice and rested ahead of a hopefully deep run here.

James Duckworth is ranked 77 in the world and is unseeded here at Wimbledon. The Aussie ended 2021 in great form highlighted by his first Masters-1000 Quarter-Final in Paris, but unfortunately has failed to replicate that this year. In fact, it is astounding that he is still ranked this highly as he has failed to win an ATP match for this entire season thus far. Duckworth is a solid player with good groundstrokes on both wings, but in this form he will likely be no match for the highly experienced former champion Andy Murray.

This is exactly the type of matchup that Andy Murray will have wanted, a comfortable one that should be over quite quickly. Conserving energy and saving his body are high priorities if he wants to make it to the second week so he will be relieved to avoid a seed in the First Round. Murray simply has too much experience and quality to lose to an opponent that is struggling for form, and he should win this match with ease, moving on to the Second Round here at Wimbledon.
