Milos Raonic meets Aljaz Bedene in the first round of the 2020 Antwerp Open on Tuesday, October 20th 2020. Will Raonic show us his incredible game which we saw lots of last week at the St. Peterburg Open or will Bedene make his return to the tour and shock us all?
Aljaz Bedene has had to recover for the last few weeks or so because of an injury which saw him retire against Stefanos Tsitsipas in the second round of the 2020 French Open. Bedene is a solid player but he has not got the game which allows him to dominate his opponents and go far into tournaments. Bedene however can upset some big named players if you take him for granted and he has shown victories against the likes of Tsitsipas and he put on a solid fight when he lost to Daniil Medvedev at the Cincinatti Masters earlier this year.
Milos Raonic is bouncing back incredibly well after a terrible clay court season now that he is playing on the indoor hard courts. Raonic made it to the semifinals at the St. Petersburg Open last week and he was definitely the favourite to win his match against Borna Coric, however, after winning the first set 6-1 he lost to Coric in the next two sets. Raonic knows he should have won that match and been the contender for the title there, however, I know he will brush past it and make sure he can get to the final here in Antwerp.
This is going to be the fourth meeting between both players, with Milos Raonic leading the head to head 3-0. They met twice last year and Milos Raonic cruised through those encounters. I believe the same will happen here in this first round encounter. Milos Raonic has been playing incredible tennis recently, whilst Aljaz Bedene has been struggling and recovering from injury. Raonic will know he can win the title here in Antwerp and he will definitely make a case for himself through this match as he will beat Bedene in straight sets on Tuesday in Antwerp.
