It is going to be an extremely tight battle between Pablo Carreno Busta and Ugo Humbert in the second round of the 2020 Antwerp Open on Wednesday, October 21st 2020. Will it be the young Frenchman to show us all that he is going to be one of the best in the world of tennis, or will PBC show us that experience really pays off?
Ugo Humbert came through an easy straight sets victory on Monday, beating the Belgian Kimmer Coppejans in straight sets. Humbert has put on some solid performances in the last few weeks, reaching the quarterfinals of the St. Petersburg Open and taking a set off the eventual champion Andrey Rublev. Humbert is continuously improving and this is exactly what you want to see in young players, however, he will now face an opponent who is extremely tough to beat and who has years and years of experience over him.
Pablo Carreno Busta has had a great restart to the season, reaching the semifinals of the 2020 US Open and the quarterfinals of the 2020 French Open. PBC is showing us all that he is not to be taken lightly in tournaments as he has incredible groundstrokes and is able to wear down his opponents by playing long and draining rallies which force them into making errors. Pablo Carreno Busta will be determined to make it far here as he knows he can beat any player in the field when he is playing his best game.
This is going to be the first meeting between both players and it is going to be a tight one for sure. I expect Humbert to come out here and put up a fight, however, I cannot go against Pablo Carreno Busta here. Pablo Carreno Busta has been superb since the restart of the season and I am sure he wants to win this tournament. The experience of the Spaniard will allow him to pick at Humbert’s weaknesses and take this match in his hands. It might be a 3-setter as Humbert is very solid and is a lefty, but PBC should win this one.
