ATP Cup: Andrey Rublev (Team Russia) vs. Guido Pella (Team Argentina) Tennis Prediction

Andrey Rublev meets Guido Pella in the group stages at the 2021 ATP Cup, as Team Russia meets Team Argentina. Will Guido Pella be able to cause a shocking upset here, or will the man of the moment, Andrey Rublev, continue to dominate the ATP Tour?

Guido Pella is a very underrated player on the ATP Tour, but when he is on top of his game, he can challenge some very solid players. Pella has beaten the likes of Marin Cilic in the last few years, however, he has not had a massive win under his belt which has put him on the map as other players have had. Pella will know that against Team Russia, he will have to be incredibly solid, and on top of his game if he is to stand any chance against one of the best players of the 2020 season, Andrey Rublev.

Andrey Rublev will be extremely confident against Team Argentina here at the ATP Cup, knowing that he can beat both the No.1 player and the No.2 player with ease when on top of his game. Rublev, if he continues to dominate as he did in 2020, will most likely make the top 5 this year as he has an incredible serve, a solid forehand, a precise backhand, and an extremely powerful and fast game style. Rublev is the man of the moment, and he will want to give it his all in 2021 to solidify his spot in the ATP Tour.

This is going to be the second meeting between both players, with Andrey Rublev leading the head to head 1-0. The last time they met was in 2018 at the Doha Semi-Final, where Rublev won in 3 sets against the Argentine. 2018 was probably Guido Pella’s peak playing style, whilst nowadays Rublev has improved drastically. Rublev knows that he is 10x better than what he was in their last performance and if he doesn’t let his guard down, the up and coming young Russian should definitely get this match done in straight sets to help Team Russia top Group D at the ATP Cup.
