The Norwegian has had a fantastic season in 2022, reaching the Final at both the French Open and the US Open, showing how far he has come on the faster surfaces. Following the US Open he had strong performances at both the Laver Cup and Davis Cup, and is the huge favorite to win the title here. Jarry has not made much of a dent on the tour for quite some time, and Ruud will be liking his chances in this match as he prepares for a serious title run.

After winning both of his matches in straight sets, he did the same in his First Round win over Ryan Peniston, winning 7-6, 6-3. The Chilean has a huge serve and hit big from the baseline, but he will have to pull a miracle out of a hat here against Casper Ruud, who has arguably been the most consistent player on the tour this season. Jarry will have to his through Ruud, which is no easy feat given his movement and he seems set to have a tough day at the office tomorrow.

Ruud is just the better player overall, and there is no real weakness in his game. Nicolas Jarry should make things interesting due to his serve, but he won’t be able to sustain a high enough level to get the job done here.
