Djokovic vs Tsitsipas Pick – Tennis Predictions & Odds 1/29/23

Novak Djokovic will meet Stefanos Tsitsipas in the Final of the 2023 Australian Open. The match will be played on Sunday January 29th, 2023 at approximately 4:30am EST.

Novak Djokovic is the fourth seed here at the 2023 Australian Open and despite being below his opponent Stefanos Tsitsipas in the rankings, is the overwhelming favorite to lift the trophy. The Serbian is aiming to equal the all-time Grand Slam title record, and unless his hamstring injury gets worse overnight should be backed heavily to win here. His impeccable defense and court coverage have been on full display, but it is his sheer will to win and mentality that set him apart here.

Stefanos Tsitsipas is seeded third here at the Australian Open, and has backed that up with some dominant performances. After being pushed to five sets by Jannik Sinner in the Round of 16 he has been particularly impressive in his wins over Jiri Lehecka and Karen Khachanov. He has been focused and serving well, and has the type of game to trouble Djokovic, especially if his movement isn’t at 100%. It will be a very difficult task, but not impossible. One thing is for sure, he will have to play the match of his life to get the win here.

Tennis wise, this should be a very interesting match between the two best players in the tournament so far. Stefanos Tsitsipas will be gunning at 100% for his first ever Grand Slam Title, but the edge has to be given to Novak Djokovic here. He simply does not lose many matches late in a major, especially not to someone not named Rafael Nadal or Roger Federer. A lot will come down to Tsitsipas’s belief, and I am not sure that he truly believes that he can win here. Djokovic is simply too solid and too mentally strong, and will not give the Greek and inch here. I think that Tsitsipas will push him to the limit, but the Serbian will certainly grind him down, winning his 10th Australian Open title in the process.
