Grigor Dimitrov vs. Gianluca Mager 9/14/20 Rome Open Tennis Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Grigor Dimitrov meets Gianluca Mager in the first round of the 2020 Rome Masters on Monday, September 14th 2020. Will Dimitrov bounce back after terrible Cincinatti Masters and US Open campaigns, or will the rising Italian cause an upset?

Gianluca Mager has been playing a lot of tennis as of recent on clay courts and he has been slowly but surely improving. Mager has a very good clay court game as he is very fast around the court and is able to play some tough drop shots and passing shots. Mager will be a player to look out for in the next couple of years and I am sure I will be writing a lot about him in the future. Mager will now face Grigor Dimitrov in his first round match here in Rome, and if I were him I’d be filled with confidence as he knows that if he plays his best he can come through here.

Grigor Dimitrov has not had very solid weeks in New York, losing twice to Marton Fucsovics both in the Cincinatti Masters and the US Open. Grigor Dimitrov is one of those players who really need to find consistency in their game because some weeks they seem unstoppable, and others they seem absolutely terrible. Dimitrov does not back himself as he used to back in 2017 and it is a shame to see because he is one of the best talents the game has to offer. Dimitrov will look to bounce back here in Rome, and he loves to play on clay, but will he be able to?

This is going to be the first meeting between both players and it is going to be a tight match in my opinion. Gianluca Mager will definitely have the confidence here, also being in Italy at home. However, I think Grigor Dimitrov will be determined and focused to get a bounce back victory here after a tough couple weeks. I expect this might be a 3 set match, but at the end of the day, Dimitrov’s experience and love for playing on clay will come out on top.
