Hubert Hurkacz vs Alejandro Davidovich Fokina 6/27/22 Wimbledon Tennis Picks, Predictions, Odds

Hubert Hurkacz will meet Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the First Round of the 2022 Wimbledon Championships. The match is scheduled to be played on Monday June 27th, 2022.

Hubert Hurkacz is the seventh seed here at Wimbledon and is ranked #10 on the ATP Tour. The Pole has been phenomenal since last season, winning his first ATP-1000 title and defeating several of the top players. He enters this event in great form also, winning the title in Halle, ruthlessly defeating world number one Daniil Medvedev in straight sets in the Final. Last year’s Semi-Finalist, Hurkacz has a perfect game for this surface with a huge serve and massive groundstrokes. Like all big men, he struggles to move at times on the slippery grass but if his strokes are firing then he can be almost unplayable at times. The draw has not been kind to him as he has been matched up with the talented Alejandro Davidovich Fokina but if he plays as he is been then he should be advancing here.

Alejandro Davidovich Fokina is unseeded here at Wimbledon and is ranked #38 in the world. A very talented player, he has elite movement and is very powerful from both wings despite his small stature. The Spaniard was in great nick at Queen’s, defeating Alex de Minaur en route to the Quarter-Finals. Unfortunately, he was forced to retire due to a minor injury in Mallorca, but all signs point towards him being 100% ready for his opener against Hubert Hurkacz. Hurkacz is the huge favorite here but Fokina is a very confident player and will be backing himself to do well here.

This is not an easy First Round match for Hubert Hurkacz, but I expect him to pass the test and get the win here. Alejandro Davidovich Fokina is a very solid player and someone that the top players would have wanted to avoid, but I think that Hurkacz simply has too much firepower on this surface, and he should get a tough win. Davidovich Fokina is good enough to steal a set if he plays well, but he won’t win here. back Hurkacz to win and move on to the Second Round here at Wimbledon.
