Borna Coric looks to continue his incredible run of form as he meets Marton Fucsovics in the first round of the 2020 Paris Masters on Monday, November 2nd 2020. Will Fucsovics be able to cause an upset here, or will Coric be in complete control as he was most of the time in Vienna?
Marton Fucsovics came through a tough round of qualifying where a 3-set victory over Vasek Pospisil saw him book a spot here on Monday. Fucsovics was extremely solid against Vasek Pospisil on Sunday in qualifying and he was able to maintain his composure throughout the match to eventually win 6-2 in the their set. Fucsovics is know for being a very solid and consistent player, however he has also been known to lose from winning positions, most recently when he was a set and a break up against Andrey Rublev at the French Open.
Borna Coric has been in incredible form as of recent, reaching the final in St. Petersburg two weeks ago and playing an absolutely incredible match against Novak Djokovic in Vienna in the second round but still losing in 2 sets. Coric deserved to win that match, but somehow Djokovic was able to make his way through it. Coric is getting back to his best and it is great for the Men’s game as he is one of the strongest and most talented young players out there. I expect Coric to do some big things next year and this being his last tournament of the season will mean he will want to work extremely hard one last time.
This is going to be the third meeting between both players, with Borna Coric leading the head to head 2-0. I do not see this match ending in any other way but a Borna Coric victory. The Croat is rising up the rankings again and he is getting back to his best level. I expect Coric to play the same way he did these last two weeks and put on a show for everyone. Coric should get this done in straight sets, but to be safe, probably take him just to win.
