Stefanos Tsitsipas will meet Jiri Vesely in the First Round of the 2023 French Open. The match will be played on Sunday 28th May, 2023.

Fifth seeded Stefanos Tsitsipas is one of the main contenders at Roland Garros this season, and will be aiming to get his campaign off to a strong start against Jiri Vesely. The Greek superstar has been one of the most consistent clay court performers over the past few seasons, and will be hoping to come through his side of the draw to reach another French Open final. With a strong 27-8 record on the season he had a good yet unspectacular clay court swing, without winning a title, athough he did reach the Final in Barcelona. He is the big favorite here against Jiri Vesely and will be looking for a strong and confidence-boosting win.

Jiri Vesely is unseeded here at the 2023 French Open and is ranked #452, entering this event with a protected ranking. He has played very little tennis this season with only two Challenger events to his name, and has an uphill battle against Stefanos Tsitsipas. His serve is his only major weapon, and he will need that to be firing on all cylinders if he is to have any chance of making this competitive.

This will be a walk in the park for Stefanos Tsitsipas. Much is said about his mental ability and focus, but he very rarely loses to players ranked lower than him and I expect a dominant performance. If this was on another surface perhaps Vesely could make this a decent battle, but on clay this will be a no-contest. Tsitsipas in straight sets, book it.
