Vasek Pospisil vs. Alex De Minaur 9/7/20 US Open Tennis Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Alex De Minaur meets Vasek Pospisil in the Round of 16 on Monday, September 7th at the 2020 US Open. Will it be the Demon or the big-serving Canadian to come through this extremely tight encounter?

Alex De Minaur has had to fight for every match here at the US Open, beating the likes of Richard Gasquet, Karen Khachanov, and Roberto Bautista Agut in matches which all went down to the line. De Minaur is Australia’s hottest prospect at the moment and he has a lot more tennis to play for the rest of his career with his incredible potential. De Minaur reminds me of Roberto Bautista Agut in the way he returns and plays the game. With Djokovic now out of the tournament, all young players will have this extra confidence as they know that this tournament is now anyone’s game and they will give it their all.

Vasek Pospisil is a dark horse being here in the Round of 16, after beating the likes of Milos Raonic and Roberto Bautista Agut in his last two matches. Pospisil is a very solid player, and he has the game to beat many of the remaining players in the tournament, however, he does not seem to be at 100%. In his last two matches he has taken medical timeouts to treat both a groin and back injury. It will be interesting to see if he is at 100% and whether Pospisil can take advantage of his big serve and patience in long rallies.

This is going to be the third meeting between both players, with Alex De Minaur leading the head to head 2-0. De Minaur is the player with the better potential and has had a better career so far in terms of Singles. Pospisil however has powered through here by giving it his all in every match without hesitation. This is going to be a tight match, but I think that Pospisil’s luck comes to a stop here. This is the business end of the US Open and De Minaur will come out to play and will take this match.
