Fifteenth seeded Australian Alex De Minaur will face unseeded Sebastian Korda of the United States in the First Round of the 2021 Wimbledon Championships. The match is scheduled to be played on Monday June 28th, 2021 at approximately 1:00pm EST.
A blockbuster is expected here at the 2021 Wimbledon Championships as Alex De Minaur will face Sebastian Korda in the First Round. This is one of the best matches on display here in the First Round, and both players have enjoyed good seasons so far. De Minaur is the favorite here due to his superior ranking and recent title win in Eastbourne, but Korda has been very impressive this season and has all the tools to give the Aussie a strong challenge here. Who will get the win and advance to the Second Round here at Wimbledon?
Alex De Minaur is currently ranked #15 on the ATP Tour and is the fifteenth seed here at the 2021 Wimbledon Championships. The young Aussie has built a reputation of being one of the fastest players and best movers on the ATP Tour, and has built a solid career for himself despite his small stature. He is in red-hot form at the moment, having won the Eastbourne title last week on grass and will be hoping to carry that momentum into this week’s Wimbledon Championships. His opponent Sebastian Korda is still fairly inexperienced but has had a breakout year this season, and is sure to put up stiff resistance. De Minaur is considered the favorite here at the 2021 Wimbledon Championships and will be expected to win a tough one here.
Sebastian Korda is currently ranked #50 in the ATP world rankings and is unseeded here at the 2021 Wimbledon Championships. The young American has had an outstanding start to his career, winning his first title this year and reaching the Semi-Finals at the Miami Open. All signs suggest that he will follow in his father’s career and break into the top 10 in the near future. He hasn’t played much on grass in his young career, but his huge serve and powerful groundstrokes will be very effective on these faster courts and as he gains more experience his movement will improve. Korda had a good warm-up for this event by reaching the Quarter-Finals in Halle, and will be hoping to go deep into the draw here. His opponent Alex De Minaur is in excellent form however and Korda will be in for a tough day at the office here.
This is a tough match to predict, but we have to go with Alex De Minaur to get the win here. Korda hasn’t played much on grass in his career but his game is designed for the surface, with a big serve and powerful groundstrokes. With that being said, De Minaur has just won his first grass court title in Eastbourne and has much more big tournament experience than the young American. It will be a tough match but I expect the Aussie to prevail, advancing to the Second Round here at the 2021 Wimbledon Championships.
