Wimbledon: Hubert Hurkacz vs. Lorenzo Musetti 6/29/21 Tennis Prediction

Hubert Hurkacz (14) meets Lorenzo Musetti in the first round of the 2021 Championships on Tuesday, June 29th 2021.

Will Hubert Hurkacz’ big swinging game succeed on the surface which we usually expect for it to be strong on or will Lorenzo Musetti come out here ready to put on another good run in his second ever grand slam?

Lorenzo Musetti knows that he had a great run at Roland Garros earlier this month, and to do this at Wimbledon as well it will be a tough road. However, he is young and ready to give it his best with nothing to lose. Lorenzo will need to be ready to fight right from the start as he is meeting a player who’s game style is more suited to this surface in Hurkacz. How far can the Italian go if he is to cause the early upset in London and continue making a big name for himself on the ATP Tour in 2021?

Hubert Hurkacz will know that he needs to be ready to go from the start here as he has a tough opponent in Lorenzo Musetti. However, his strong doubles performances over the last few weeks will give him some confidence in his game. Hurkacz is a big swinger with a big serve and flat forehand, perfect for grass. Hubert has had success in 2021, winning a Masters 1000 title, but he has not played at that level since then. Can the Pole come out here and prevent the early upset from the up and coming Italian?

This is going to be the 2nd meeting between both players, with Lorenzo having won their only meeting. I expect Hubert to come out here ready to give it his best and assert his dominance in the first round. Lorenzo can definitely compete, but the lack of ever playing on grass, no warm up tournaments, and having just graduated from high school. If this was clay, it could’ve been tighter, but on grass Hubert will be able to get the advantage and get the win in the first round of the Championships.
