WTA Finals: Garbine Muguruza vs. Anett Kontaveit 11/17/21 Tennis Prediction

Garbine Muguruza of Spain will play Estonian Anett Kontaveit in the Final of the 2021 WTA Finals held in Guadalajara, Mexico. The match will be played on Wednesday November 17th, 2021 at 9:30pm EST.

Former world number one Garbine Muguruza will do battle with the most in-form player on the WTA Tour Anett Kontaveit in the Final of the 2021 WTA Finals. Both women have displayed some outstanding tennis to get here, and it will be a match between experience and youth. Kontaveit has hardly set a foot wrong over the past few months, can she finish the year with a bang and claim the biggest title of her career?

Garbine Muguruza is a multiple Grand Slam champion and former world number one. The Spaniard has not quite been at her dominant best over the past few years but has shown signs of a resurgence towards the end of this year, and has backed that up with a run to the Final here at the WTA Finals. She enjoys playing in Mexico and has a stunning record here, and this year has been no different with Muguruza only dropping one match here so far to Karolina Pliskova. She crushed compatriot Paula Badosa in the Semi-Finals to set up this clash with Anett Kontaveit who has been in scintillating form.

Anett Kontaveit has been the hottest player on the WTA Tour over the past few months, winning four titles since the summer and breaking into the top 10 for the first time. The Estonian star only had one loss in this event, interestingly to Muguruza in the Group Stages but she has already sealed her own qualification so it is hard to read too much into that. Her powerful groundstrokes are ultra-consistent, and she has a very mature head on her shoulders despite only being 25 years of age. Despite her lower ranking she is considered the betting favorite over Garbine Muguruza but one thing is for sure, this will be a close and thrilling match.

This is sure to be a very exciting match between two players in fantastic form. Anett Kontaveit has the edge in current form, while Muguruza has the edge in experience. I am expecting a very close match and any time a match goes the distance, the more experienced player has the advantage. Garbine Muguruza has played in many of these big finals before, and I think that will be the difference here as there is otherwise nothing to separate the two. Garbine Muguruza will win here, becoming the 2021 WTA Finals champion.
