The Atlanta Dream and Dallas Wings meet Sunday in WNBA action at the College Park Center.
The Atlanta Dream won just 12 games last season and are eager to redeem themselves. The one reason for hope is the return of Angel McCoughtry, who was one of the top players in the world when we saw her in 2016. It’s always nice to add a four-time all-star and one of the better defenders into your lineup. It’s going to make the Dream much more explosive when you consider Tiffany Hayes and Brittney Sykes can fall back as support players after successful seasons. The Dream also added Jessica Breland and Renee Montgomery in free agency, two experienced players who will take some pressure off McCoughtry to do everything for this squad. The Atlanta Dream are going to be a fast paced team under new coach Nicki Collen, and that will make them a fun watch and a playoff contender.

The Dallas Wings look for a bounce back performance after losing their opener to the Phoenix Mercury on Friday. The Dallas Wings are averaging 78 points on 36.3 percent shooting and allowing 86 points on 40.6 percent shooting. Liz Cambage is averaging 18 points and nine rebounds while Skylar Diggins-Smith is averaging 18 points and nine assists. Glory Johnson is the third double-digit scorer and Allisha Gray is dishing two assists. The Dallas Wings are shooting 20 percent from beyond the arc and 88.9 percent from the free throw line. The Dallas Wings are allowing 41.7 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 40 rebounds per game. The Dallas Wings have won six of their last eight home games.
The Dream are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 vs. Western Conference, 2-7 ATS in their last 9 Sunday games and 2-11 ATS in their last 13 games overall. The Wings are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games playing on 1 days rest, 4-1 ATS in their last 5 vs. Eastern Conference and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 Sunday games. The Dream are 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings in Dallas, 6-1 ATS in the last 7 meetings and the over is 22-5 in the last 27 meetings.
The Dallas Wings lost their opener, but they hung around on the road against a title contender in Phoenix. That shows the potential of this team and allowed them to knock rust off early. The Atlanta Dream are going to be much improved with their best player back on the court, but starting the season on the road against a Dallas team that had a chance to knock off the cobwebs may not be a favorable spot for them. I like the Wings to control the pace of this game and get the victory.
