The Seattle Storm made the playoffs last year despite winning just 15 games, and it’s likely only up from here for this club. With a duo of Jewell Loyd and Breanna Stewart, the Storm have a chance to win each and every night, as you’re talking about two of the young faces of this league and potential franchise players. Sue Bird shows each year she still has something left in the tank and Crystal Langhorne is coming off possibly the best season of her lengthy career. There’s also players like Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis, who is a sniper from downtown, and Alysha Clark, who helps complete the starting unit. The Seattle Storm lack any sort of proven depth, which may be the one reason why many don’t talk about them as a deep postseason team, but this is a fun club with a ton of upside.
The Mercury are 1-7 ATS in their last 8 games playing on 1 days rest, 4-0 ATS in their last 4 Sunday games and 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games overall. The Storm are 9-2-1 ATS in their last 12 Sunday games, 2-5 ATS in their last 7 home games and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Mercury are 6-1 ATS in the last 7 meetings in Seattle, 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings and the under is 25-11 in the last 36 meetings.
I like the fact that the Phoenix Mercury have a game under their belt to knock off the rust, but playing on the road for the first time isn't easy. The Seattle Storm were rather impressive at home last season and have the raw young talent to beat anybody in the league each night. I was high on the Storm last season and while it didn't pay off all the time, I still have a soft spot for this exciting club. I'll lay the bucket, as the Storm get a confidence boosting win to start the season.
