The Phoenix Mercury and Dallas Wings face off on Tuesday in a WNBA basketball showdown at Talking Stick Resort Arena.

The Dallas Wings have had some major issues so far this season and coming into this game they sit with a 3-5 record which puts them in last place in the Western Conference. Even with all the struggles, the Dallas Wings are coming off a big win in their last game against the Seattle Storm. The defense was strong in the last game giving up only 67 points and that led to the point victory. The Dallas Wings on the season are averaging 87.6 points per game while their defense is giving up 86.3 points per game. Arike Ogunbowale has been the best player for the Dallas Wings averaging 22.1 points while shooting 38.8 percent from the field.

On the other side of this matchup is the Phoenix Mercury who sit in 4th place in the standings with a 5-3 record. One issue for this Mercury team though, is they are without Diana Taurasi who has missed the last few weeks as she has dealt with an injury. Even though the Mercury have been without Taurasi they have still won three games in a row heading into this game. In the last game against the Chicago Sky, it took overtime, but they were able to come away with the 77-74 victory. On the season, the Mercury are averaging 80.3 points per game while their defense is giving up 80.3 points per game. Skylar Diggins-Smith is averaging 19.4 points while shooting 45.3 percent from the field.

The Mercury are the better team in this matchup and their offense is going to be too much in this game. Look for Phoenix to find offensive success and that will be the difference as they come away with the cover of the spread.
