Puerto Rico and China face off in an Olympic women’s basketball showdown on Tuesday. This is the first game for both of these teams who are competing in group C.

Puerto Rico has made the Olympics for the first time, but this is a team that has some confidence heading into this one. Puerto Rico had to pull off the upset over Brazil to even make the Olympics. One big issue for this Puerto Rico team though, is they are very undersized and it’s something that could hurt them in this game. Jennifer O’Neill and Jazmon Gwathmey are the two best players for this Puerto Rico team, but outside of those two, this team isn’t all that talented. If Puerto Rico wants to win this game, it’s going to need to be some of the other players that step up for this team.

On the other side of this matchup is China who is looking to pick up an Olympic medal for the first time since 1992. China is a very tall team led by ‘9″ Han Xu, 6’7″ Li Yueru, and 6’6″ Sun Mengran. For China, the big question for this team is with the backcourt. The backcourt is young, and if this team does struggle, it’s going to be because the backcourt really lets them down. In this game, though it’s going to be about China using their size to their advantage and if they can do that, they should have no issue coming away with the victory.

China is the more talented team, and they have a big size advantage in this game. Puerto Rico is going to have no answer for the size of China and this game is going to get out of hand early. Back China to win this game and cover the spread.
