Belgium and Puerto Rico face off on Thursday night in a women’s Olympic basketball showdown. This is the second game for both Belgium and Puerto Rico.

Puerto Rico knew that these Olympic games were going to be tough, and the first game proved to be exactly that. In the first game against China, Puerto Rico really struggled with their defense giving up 97 points and that led to the blowout defeat. The offense also only scored 55 points for Puerto Rico. Pamela Rosado was the best player for Puerto Rico in the first game putting up 14 points. Only three players scored in double figures for Puerto Rico. One big issue for Puerto Rico is their bench play. The bench only combined for six points, and they need a better team effort in this game to find success in this game. If the offense struggles, Puerto Rico is going to have issues coming away with a victory.

On the other side of this matchup is Belgium who played their first game of the Olympics against Australia, and it was Belgium that was able to win 85-70. Emma Meesseman was the best player for Belgium in the first game, putting up 32 points and five assists. Belgium also had two other players who scored 17 points, but outside of those three players, there wasn’t a whole lot of production. One area that Belgium is going to want to improve is with his production from deep. Belgium shot only 5-21 from deep and in this game, and going forward, they need better production from deep.

Belgium looked good in their first game, and that is going to be the case again in this one. Look for Belgium to run up the score, and Puerto Rico is going to have no answer. Back Belgium to cover the spread.
