Seattle Storm at Washington Mystics

The Washington Mystics and Seattle Storm face off on Sunday in a WNBA basketball showdown at the Entertainment & Sports Center. The last time these two teams faced off the Mystics won 87-83.

The Seattle Storm are back to full strength and they currently sit with a 17-7 record overall which puts them second place in the Western Conference. The Storm had been struggling a bit before their last game but they also still had players on their Olympic break, so it wasn’t all that shocking. In the last game, the Storm finally got back on the right track putting up 99 points against the New York Liberty. The Storm want to play fast, so it’s not all that shocking when they get close to the 100 point mark. The Storm are averaging 86.6 points per game while their defense is giving up 80.3 points per game. Breanna Stewart has been the star of the team averaging 20.5 points while shooting 45.1 percent from the field and 36.1 percent from behind the three-point line.

The Washington Mystics sit with an 8-13 record overall which puts them in 4th place in the Eastern Conference. The Mystics are coming into this game really struggling and a big reason has been the defense. In two of the last three games the Mystics have given up 84 points, and in the last game, the offense could only manage 64 points. The Mystics on the season are averaging 81.2 points per game while their defense is giving up 84 points per game. Tina Charles has been the best player for Washington, averaging 25.7 points while 46 percent from the field. If the Mystics want to win this game, Charles is going to need to have a strong game.

I don’t think a whole lot of defense is going to be played in this game. Look for plenty of scoring by both teams and for the over to cash with ease.
