The Minnesota Lynx and New York Liberty face off on Tuesday in a WNBA basketball showdown.at the Target Center. These two teams last faced off on August 15th and it was the Lynx that won 88-78.

The Minnesota Lynx come into this game with a 15-9 record overall which puts them in third place in the Western Conference. The Minnesota Lynx got out to a slow start to the season, but they have played some really good basketball the last few months and the last two games they have won. In the last game against the Seattle Storm, the defense was strong in the second half, which led to the six point victory. The Lynx come into this game averaging 82.5 points per game while their defense is giving up 79.9 points per game. Sylvia Fowles and Naphessa Collier have been the best two players for Lynx both averaging at least 16 points per game.

On the other side of this matchup is the New York Liberty who sit with an 11-16 record which puts them in third place in the Western Conference. The Liberty have lost four games in a row and the defense has been a big issue. The Liberty has given up at least 80 points in each of the last four games and two games ago against the Phoenix Mercury they gave up 106 points. The Liberty like to play at a fast pace, but their defense has been lacking. New York is averaging 79 points per game while their defense is giving up 86 points per game. Betnijah Laney has been the best player for the Liberty averaging 17.8 points while shooting 46 percent from the field and 30.2 percent from deep.

The Liberty’s defense is a big problem, and it’s going to be the big problem again in this game. The Lynx led by Fowles will run up the score, and win this game in blowout fashion. Back the Lynx to cover the spread.
