Washington Mystics at Minnesota Lynx

The Minnesota Lynx and Washington Mystics face off on Saturday in a WNBA basketball showdown at the Target Center.  These two teams faced off earlier this season, and it was Washington that was able to win 85-81.

The Minnesota Lynx have been good this season and they sit with a 17-9 record overall which puts them in 3rd place in the Western Conference. The Lynx have won four games in a row including the last game against the Los Angeles Sparks where they gave up only 57 points. In the 4th quarter the Lynx allowed the Sparks to only give up four points. The Lynx on the season are averaging 81.5 points while their defense is giving up 78.5 points per game. Sylvia Fowles and Napheessa Collier have been the top players for the Lynx. Fowles is averaging 16.6 points while Collier is averaging 16 points.

The Washington Mystics sit with a 10-16 record overall and that puts them in 3rd place in the Eastern Conference. Washington has lost two of their last three games including the last game against the Connecticut Sun where they gave up 85 points. One big issue for Washington is they are dealing with injuries right now. Washington will be without Tina Charles in this game and it also looks like they are going to be without Elena Delle Donne. Washington on the season is averaging 80.3 points per game while their defense is giving up 83 points per game. Ariel Atkins is the best player available for this game and she is currently averaging 15.5 points while shooting 40.2 percent from the field.

The Lynx’s defense is going to lock down the Mystics offense in this game, and that will be the difference. Look for Fowles to also have a big game, and she is going to pace the Lynx to a victory and a cover of the spread.
