The New York Liberty and Washington Mystics face off on Friday in a WNBA basketball showdown at the Barclays Center. The last time these teams faced off was in July and it was the Liberty that came away with the 82-79 victory.

The New York Liberty sit with an 11-20 record overall which puts them in 4th place in the Eastern Conference. The Liberty have lost seven games in a row, including the last game against the Connecticut Sun where they gave up 98 points. The Mystics on the season are averaging 78.1 points per game while their defense is giving up 85.7 points per game. Betnijah Laney has been the best player for the Liberty and she is currently averaging 17 points while shooting 45.8 percent from the field.

On the other side of this matchup is the Washington Mystics who sit in 3rd place in the standings with a 12-18 record, and they have won two games in a row. The Mystics have won two games in a row and in the last game, they came away with a 79-71 victory.. The Mystics are averaging 79.9 points per game while their defense is giving up 83.4 points per game. Tina Charles has been the best player for the Mystics averaging 24.3 points while shooting 45 percent from the field. The Mystics won’t have Elena Delle Done though, something that is a big loss.

The Mystics have been playing the better basketball, and I expect Charles is going to have another big game in this one. The Liberty gave up 98 points in their last game, and although I don’t think Washington is going to score that many in this game, they are going to score enough to cover the spread.
