The Connecticut Sun and the Chicago Sky face off on Sunday in Game 3 of their WNBA playoff series at Wintrust Arena. The Sky won Game 1 101-95 but in the second game, it was Connecticut that won 79-68.
In the last game it really looked like the Sky were going to close out the series, but Connecticut outscored Chicago 21-9 in the 4th quarter. The Sky had a balanced attack with Kahleah Copper leading the squad putting up 13 points, five rebounds, and four assists. The Sun also had a balanced attack with DeWanna Bonner and Alyssa Thomas leading the team putting up 15 points.
The Connecticut Sun have been the top team in the Eastern Conference all season, but now they have their backs against the wall needing to win this game. The Sun are averaging 79.7 points per game while their defense is giving up 69.9 points per game. The Sun’s defense has been the strength all season and it helped them again in Game 2. Jonquel Jones has been the best player for the Sun averaging 19.4 points while shooting 51.5 percent from the field. DeWanna Bonner has also had a big year averaging 15.2 points while shooting 39.5 percent from the field.
On the season the Sky are averaging 83.3 points per game while giving up 81.9 points per game. Kahleah Cooper has been the best player for Chicago averaging 14.4 points while shooting 45.9 percent from the field and 30.6 percent from deep. The Sky like to play a faster pace and if they want to win this game it’s going to be about pushing the pace. They can’t have the pace of this game be slow or they are going to be in trouble.
The Sun got lucky in their last game with their comeback, but they aren’t going to find success again in this game. Look for Chicago to push the pace, and that will lead to them getting the job done. Back the Chicago Sky against the spread.
