The Chicago Sky and New York Liberty face off on Friday in a WNBA showdown at Wintrust Arena. When these two teams faced off on July 23rd, it was the Liberty that were able to secure the 83-80 victory.

The Sky sit with a 21-7 record overall, but they have lost two games in a row. The last game was against the Las Vegas Aces for the commissioner’s cup and the defense struggled, giving up 93 points. Chicago is averaging 85.6 points, while their defense is giving up 79.5 points per game. Chicago is averaging second in the league, while their defense is ranked 4th in the league. The top offensive player for the Sky has been Kahleah Copper, and she is averaging 14.3 points while shooting 45.7 percent from the field and 40.3 percent from behind the three-point line. Candace Parker is also averaging 13.6 points while shooting 44.7 percent from the field.

On the other side of this matchup is the Liberty who sit with a 10-17 record overall and the last game was against the Sky was a victory. New York is averaging 79 points, while their defense is giving up 84.1 points per game. The offense is ranked 10th in the league, while their defense is ranked 8th in the league. The Liberty do like to play at a slower pace, and they will probably try to slow the pace here. Sabrina Ionescu has been the top player for the Liberty, averaging 17.2 points while shooting 41.7 percent from the field and 35.1 percent from behind the three-point line.

The Liberty were able to beat the Sky in the last game, but this game is going to be a lot different. The Sky’s defense is ranked 4th in the league, and the Liberty are going to have issues scoring in this game. I expect the Liberty to score close to 70 points and that will be the difference as Chicago gets the job done. Back the Sky against the spread.
