Indiana Fever vs. Washington Mystics 8/12/22 WNBA Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Indiana Fever and Washington Mystics face off on Friday in a WNBA showdown at Hinkie Fieldhouse. When these two teams faced off on May 31st, it was Washington that secured the 87-75 victory.

The Washington Mystics come into this game with a 20-14 record overall, but they are coming off a disappointing loss in their last game The offense scored only 76 points while the defense gave up 79 points and that led to the three-point defeat. The Mystics are averaging 79.7 points, while their defense is giving up 75.8 points per game. The offense is ranked 8th in the league, while their defense is ranked 1st in the league. Elena Delle Donne has been the top player, averaging 16.7 points while shooting 47.4 percent from the field and 39.1 percent from behind the three-point line.

On the other side of this matchup is the Indiana Fever, who sit with a 6-29 record overall, and they have been eliminated from playoff contention for a while. In the last game against the Dallas Wings, though, the Fever were competitive and even forced overtime, but they couldn’t make the winning plays late and were defeated by four in overtime. The Fever are averaging 78.1 points, while their defense is giving up 89.1 points per game. The offense is ranked 12th in the league, while their defense is also ranked 12th in the league. Kelsey Mitchell has been the top player for the Fever, averaging 18.4 points while shooting 43.8 percent from the field and 40.9 percent from behind the three-point line.

The Fever were competitive in the last game, but I just can’t trust a defense that is giving up 89.1 points per game. Washington is going to have no issue running up the score here, and this game is going to get out of hand early. Washington is going to run up the score, and the Mystics will cover the spread.
