The Connecticut Sun and Los Angeles Sparks meet Thursday in WNBA action at the IMG Academy.

The Connecticut Sun need a victory here to rebound from a rough 0-2 start to the season. The Connecticut Sun are averaging 79 points on 40.2 percent shooting and allowing 85.5 points on 45.3 percent shooting. DeWanna Bonner is averaging 24 points and 3.5 assists while Alyssa Thomas is averaging 24 points and 9.5 rebounds. Brionna Jones is grabbing five rebounds and Jasmine Thomas is dishing 3.5 assists. The Connecticut Sun are shooting 24.3 percent from beyond the arc and 71.7 percent from the free throw line. The Connecticut Sun are allowing 31 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 36 rebounds per game.

The Los Angeles Sparks look for a bounce back victory to get a game above a .500 record. The Los Angeles Sparks are averaging 88.5 points on 49.3 percent shooting and allowing 86 points on 49.6 percent shooting. Nneka Ogwumike is averaging 17 points and five rebounds while Brittney Sykes is averaging 13 points and two assists. Chelsea Gray is the third double-digit scorer and Candace Parker is dishing two assists. The Los Angeles Sparks are shooting 40 percent from beyond the arc and 78.1 percent from the free throw line. The Los Angeles Sparks are allowing 37.7 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 30.5 rebounds per game.

The Sun are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 Thursday games, 5-1 ATS in their last 6 vs. Western Conference and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Sparks are 11-23-1 ATS in their last 35 Thursday games, 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games playing on 1 days rest and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The over is 5-2 in Sun last 7 overall. The Sun are 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings.

The Connecticut Sun weren’t supposed to fall off a cliff with the addition of Bonner, but they’re clearly having issues adjusting to some roster changes, mainly on the offensive side. The Los Angeles Sparks have been hit or miss through two games, but we know what we’re getting from this club at full strength and that defensive effort will eventually improve. While we’re still figuring these teams out, I have more confidence in the Sparks than I do the Sun. I’ll lay the chalk.
