Team Wilson vs. Team Stewart 7/10/22 WNBA All-Star Game Picks, Predictions, Odds

The WNBA All Star Game takes place on Sunday afternoon in Chicago. Breanna Stewart of the Seattle Storm and A’ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces were the captains for their team and picked their squad. 

Team Wilson took Candace Parker with the first pick, which is going to make this team probably the crowd favorite. Kelsey Plum, Jewell Lloyd, Kahleah Copper, Skylar Diggins-Smith Alyssa Thomas, Ariike Ogunbowlae, and Emma Messman were all traded by Wilson. She also swung a trade to get to Sylvia Fowles and Sabrina Ionescu. This is a solid team, and Fowles being on the squad is a big boost for this team to give them some big side inside. Although Fowles has been hurt during part of the season, This team also has Rhyne Howard, who is a rookie but is averaging 15.1 points per game and will be a key member off the bench for this team.

For Team Stewart, it was Jackie Young from the Las Vegas Aces that was selected with the first pick. Jonquel Jones, Rhyne Howard, Dearica Hamby, Courtney Vandersloot, Ariel Atkins, Brionna Jones, and Natasha Howard rounded out the draft picks. Sue Bird and Nneka Oguwumike were traded over from Team Wilson to Team Stewart to complete the team. It makes sense that the team traded for Bird so that she could play with Stewart for their last All-Star game. Skylar Diggins-Smith is averaging 18.9 points and 5.2 assists while shooting 44.2 percent from the field. 

Stewart is a top-heavy team and Wilson has the more complete team. Wilson also should have the “home court” advantage with Parker on the team, and that could have a small positive impact for them. I expect when the reserves come in, that’s when Team Wilson will dominate, and that is going to be the difference here. Back Team Wilson against the spread.
