UNCW Seahawks
UNC Wilmington managed a solid 5-2 run over their first seven games, taking losses to only Appalachian State and East Carolina. Otherwise it was wins over Mount Olive, UNC Asheville, Columbia International, Murray State and Florida Gulf Coast. Since then it’s been a four-game win streak for the Seahawks.
In their latest matchup versus Marshall, the Seahawks were up 40-31 by halftime. UNC Wilmington kept the pace from there and ended up with a 78-69 win. Leading team scorer Trazarien White came off the bench to post 27 points, three rebounds and two assists in 31 minutes.
Arkansas Razorbacks
Over on the Razorbacks’ side, they managed to win six of their first 10 games this year over Alcorn State, Gardner-Webb, Old Dominion, Stanford, Duke and Furman. The losses came to UNC Greensboro, Memphis, North Carolina and Oklahoma. Arkansas has since won versus Lipscomb and Abilene Christian.
Matched up against Abilene Christian last Thursday, the Razorbacks faced a 35-28 deficit going into the second half. Arkansas woke up after the break with a 55-38 run and took the victory 83-73. Tramon Mark was the top scorer on the team with 25 points and 11 rebounds off the bench.
ANDREW’S FREE UNC WILMINGTON VS ARKANSAS PREDICTION
I’m going to take a stab on UNC Wilmington here. The Seahawks are playing pretty well during this four-game win streak, which kicked off with a massive upset win over Kentucky on December 2. UNC Wilmington has posted 78 or more points in each of those four games as well.
As for Arkansas, they had a rough first half in the Abilene Christian win and no starter hit double-figures in scoring. The Razorbacks certainly have the talent to be able to control this game, but I think UNC Wilmington can power out a cover if all goes well. Should be a fun matchup.
