Bowling Green has four games completed so far this season. The Falcons’ first outing was a 20-13 loss at home to Tarleton State. Game two was another defeat, this time a blowout road effort 56-7 against Nebraska. Bowling Green kept the skid going with another tough road matchup versus Iowa State, falling in that one 55-7 as the game came to a close.
Last weekend versus South Florida, the Falcons managed a pair of field goals in the first half and held their destiny in their hands by the fourth quarter up 6-0. Over on the Miami-OH side, they had a tricky road opener this year versus Pittsburgh. The RedHawks didn’t stand much of a chance in that one and lost 59-14. Miami-OH took out their frustrations versus an overmatched Holy Cross team in game two, taking that one 45-7. Game three was another loss however, as the RedHawks fell in a close one 35-31 against Cincinnati.
Matched up against UConn, the RedHawks were down early after giving up a couple of first-quarter TDs but came back to tie it up by halftime. In the fourth quarter Miami-OH was tied 21-21 then hit a field goal to power out the win 24-21. David McComb was 19-of-29 for 312 yards and a pair of scores while also leading the rush on three carries for 33 yards and a TD.

I might take a stab on Bowling Green but I’m probably just not touching this one. The Falcons offense was pretty limp in their near-miss versus USF last weekend, notching just 207 yards, 3.4 yards per play, 14 first downs and 5-of-15 on third-down tries. The D kept the team in it though, giving up just 214 yards (52 passing), 16 first downs and 3-of-10 on third downs alongside two fumble recoveries.
As for Miami-OH, they posted 414 yards and 20 first downs but went just 5-of-13 on third downs in their tight win over UConn. The RedHawks gave up 377 yards on the other side with a couple of takeaways. I could see Miami-OH covering here if the offense is working, but Bowling Green’s defense could keep them in control as well.
