Tulane vs UTSA Prediction Football Picks 11-24-23

The UTSA Roadrunners and the Tulane Green Wave meet Friday in college football action from Yulman Stadium. UTSA played South Florida in their last matchup. The Roadrunners would improve to 8-3 with a blowout victory. As for Tulane, they’re coming off a game versus Florida Atlantic. The 10-1 Wave ended up with a 16-point win. The Roadrunners averaged a solid 31.5 points per game over their first 10 outings this year, winning seven of those matchups. UTSA had a nice passing attack during that time, averaging 238.0 yards per game with 19 scores and nine interceptions. On the ground, the Roadrunners posted 169.7 yards per game with 19 more scores and 4.3 yards per carry. 

In their last game versus South Florida, the Roadrunners scored points in every quarter along the way to a 49-21 blowout win. UTSA got 411 passing yards and three scores from QB Frank Harris, who also led the rush with 112 yards and three more scores. Joshua Cephus got in on the action with nine catches for 163 yards and a TD.

Tulane Green Wave 

Over on the Green Wave’s side, they boasted a 9-1 run over their first 10 outings this year. Tulane scored 28.1 points per game on average in that time, with 227.6 yards, 19 touchdowns and six interceptions coming via the pass. The Wave added 169.6 yards per game, 4.3 yards per carry and 13 more scores on the ground. 

Tulane took on Florida Atlantic back on Saturday. In that game the Wave held the Owls scoreless until the fourth quarter in a pretty routine 24-8 win. Michael Pratt led the way on 252 pass yards and three touchdowns. Chris Brazzell caught seven balls for 103 yards and a TD, while Makhi Hughes put up 72 rush yards on 21 carries.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK 

I’ll probably lean toward Tulane in this one. You could make a good case either way, though. The Wave didn’t have too many issues versus FAU, posting a nice defensive effort on 234 yards allowed (202 passing), 14 first downs and 3-of-14 on the Owls’ third-down tries. Tulane wasn’t great on third downs themselves though (3-of-11), and had just 84 rush yards. 

As for UTSA, they gained a whopping 643 yards (419 passing) against South Florida alongside 7.2 yards per play and 32 first downs. The Roadrunners have scored 34 or more points in seven straight games, so Tulane has their work cut out for them on defense. I think the Wave will pull through, but it’ll be an interesting matchup.
