Over on the Virginia side, they were able to win just two of their first 10 games this season. The Cavs averaged 23.2 points per game in that time with 14 pass touchdowns, 13 interceptions and 248.9 pass yards per game. Virginia wasn’t any better in the rush with 120.2 yards per game, 3.1 yards per carry and 12 scores.
Matched up against Duke on Saturday, Virginia managed to put up points in every quarter on the way to a close 30-27 victory. Anthony Colandrea bagged 278 passing yards with three touchdowns, and also led the rush with 66 yards. Malik Washington had a nice game receiving with 112 yards and two TDs on eight catches.

I might take a stab on Virginia. Granted, there’s not a ton of intrigue involved but we should have a pretty fun matchup regardless. The Cavaliers are coming off a nice win over Duke, compiling 448 yards (278 passing) and 22 first downs. Virginia also went just 5-of-15 on third-down tries and committed 12 penalties though, so it wasn’t a perfect game.
As for Virginia Tech, they’re coming off 349 yards (225 passing) and just 1-of-7 on third downs in their disappointing loss to NC State. The Hokies have been pretty erratic lately, but to be fair they’ve also faced some pretty tough teams. Virginia Tech should have control in this one, but I think the Cavs can follow along closely enough to end up with a cover (and maybe a win).
