LA Angels vs St. Louis Cardinals Prediction 5-13-24 Picks

The St. Louis Cardinals and the Los Angeles Angels meet Monday in MLB action from Angel Stadium. Here’s a LA Angels vs St. Louis Cardinals Prediction. This will be the first installment in a three-game series. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for the game.

St. Louis Cardinals Betting Preview

The Cardinals had some trouble with the Milwaukee Brewers over the weekend. St. Louis lost the first three games of that series, falling 7-1, 11-2 and 5-3. In the Sunday game four finale, the Cardinals were able to stave off the sweep with a 4-3 win. Starter Miles Mikolas finished with 6.0 innings, three earned, six hits and three walks.

On Monday for the starting pitcher role, the Cardinals are going with Matthew Liberatore. This year Liberatore is 1-1 with a 3.54 ERA in 14 games (one start). Over his career Liberatore is 6-9 with a 5.17 ERA in 45 games (19 starts).

Los Angeles Angels Betting Preview

Over on the Angels’ side, they took on the Kansas City Royals over the weekend. Los Angeles took a tough loss 2-1 on Friday, but then came back for a 9-3 Saturday win. In the Sunday rubber match the Angels took a 4-2 loss, giving up 11 hits. Patrick Sandoval gave up all four earned and all 11 hits in 6.0 frames with no walks and three Ks.

As starter for Monday’s matchup it’ll be the Angels’ Jose Soriano. This year Soriano is 1-4 with a 4.32 ERA in eight games (six starts). Soriano has a 2-7 career record with a 3.94 ERA in 46 games (six starts).

Cardinals vs Angels Injury Notes

Cardinals RP Keynan Middleton (forearm) threw off the mound Friday and is set to begin a rehab assignment this week. RP Riley O’Brien was moved to the 60-day Injured List on Friday.

LA Angels vs St. Louis Cardinals Prediction

I’ll probably stay with the Angels. Also probably not touching this one, though. St Louis had a tough series over the weekend but they should be in relatively good hands with Liberatore on the mound. Thing is, Liberatore probably won’t stay out there for very long. Over his last three outings he’s given up three earned in 5.0 combined innings on six hits and no walks.

As for Los Angeles, on Sunday they didn’t play spectacularly but really only had one bad inning. Willie Calhoun did most of the work on offense, notching a homer, two RBI and three of the team’s six hits. LA is going to need a more well-rounded effort on Monday but they should be in okay shape.
